Marion Segal

Marion (Ruta) Segal began creating communities since her early years. She grew up as the only child in a single-working-parent household, where she spent a lot of time on her own. She also lived in a communist society, and learned to value interdependence, human vulnerability, creativity and resilience. With time, she gathered people naturally, fostering a sense of belonging and homecoming, often in creative ways. Marion lost dear people and connections in her life due to relocation, growing apart and death. She found ways to re-create meaningful relationships and community, and that inspired her devotion to help others.

Her professional interest in community restoration began in 2005. She got certified in Creative Arts Therapy at the New School University in NYC, and received the MA degree in East-West psychology at CIIS in San Francisco in 2013. She was the founder of Creative Pier, the first healing arts studio in NYC in 2007.

A student of life, Marion is also trained in the Hakomi method, Somatic Experiencing, Hypnotherapy and Narrative Healing, Bioenergy Balancing, Sound Healing and Nonviolent communication. She is currently a PhD candidate, studying community restoration through creativity, mindfulness and loving kindness. A teacher, healer, artist, and storyteller, she is a lover of people and all of nature.
